Traditional Owner Consultation

In 2022, Barwon Coast Committee of Management sought to rename Ocean Grove Spit to traditional language. Jen worked with (then) DELWP and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation to develop an appropriate process and developed an Engagement Plan for the local community and users of the area. Bukareeyoo (meaning ‘between’) was the name chosen by Wadawurrung.
