Anglesea (former) Power Station and Mine Community Consultation Network

The purpose of the CCN is ‘to assist Alcoa to become more responsive to the needs and concerns of the community’, as the former mine and power station site transitions to a rehabilitated environmental and community asset.

Engaged by Alcoa, Jen facilitated a group of residents, interest groups and local & state government officials from 2015 until Covid restrictions in 2020. The meetings involved people who were very passionate about the Anglesea environment. Over 110 people regularly attended the meetings to hear about the rehabilitation and the potential for the Eden Project to develop part of the site. The CCN was meeting every two months in Anglesea; meetings have been replaced by comprehensive updates sent to over 2000 people on the project’s database. It is hoped the CCN meetings will resume in 2022.

Jen was supported in this work by Sally Chandler-Ford, who produced comprehensive notes following each meeting.

In June 2017 Jen also assisted Alcoa in drop-in sessions to inform the development of the site’s master plan.
