Progressing Projects

All organisations are under increasing pressure to lift their productivity, expand their influence, meet new challenges and be proactive about future demands. At the same time, most organisations have less financial resources – and therefore people – to do the work.

Kismet Forward can provide you with the opportunity to bridge the gap between what is expected and what is possible…. we become a virtual workforce that is called in for specific tasks and projects, without the requirement to pay for associated infrastructure, leave (and other HR related costs) and all of the ‘downtime’ associated with meetings, administration, and other organisational requirements. You pay only for the time that we spend on your project.

You also get the benefit of tapping into our extensive networks and information-gathering across the NRM sector.

We can assist you in a variety of ways – from managing projects through to writing complex strategic reports. We can undertake consultation or engagement activities with you or on your behalf, incorporating the results of these important processes in professionally written, well-researched reports.

Here are a few examples of the many strategic reports that we have produced in recent times:

Integrated Management for Watson Creek Integrated Management for Watson Creek – Jen facilitated a workshop involving community and agency stakeholders of the degraded Watson Creek environment. We used the outcomes of the workshop to develop a model for the development of Integrated Catchment Management arrangements in Victoria. Produced for the Central Coastal Board and the Port Phillip Western Port Catchment Management Authority utilising Natural Heritage Trust funding.

Community Capacity in Corangamite’s Landcare Networks Community Capacity in Corangamite’s Landcare Networks – We detailed the outcomes of ten workshops with Landcare networks in the Corangamite region relating to the nature, level and proposed building of relationships that drive NRM in the region. Produced for the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority as a key input into its landmark Community Engagement Strategy.

Levels of Service Framework for the Coast Levels of Service Framework for the Coast – Levels of Service is a model developed by Parks Victoria to provide strategic priorities for investment in park infrastructure, whilst providing direction as to the type, scale and quality of services that should be delivered. We undertook a major study of the Parks Victoria model and detailed the means by which this framework could be modified and applied to the Victorian coast. Produced for the Victorian Coastal Council and the Department of Sustainability and Environment.

Implementation of the Victorian Coastal Strategy through Port Phillip Bay Planning Schemes Implementation of the Victorian Coastal Strategy through Port Phillip Bay Planning Schemes – We investigated the extent to which the ten municipalities surrounding Port Phillip Bay have enshrined the principles of the Victorian Coastal Strategy (VCS) in their planning schemes. Produced for Central Coastal Board and Port Phillip Western Port Catchment Management Authority utilising Natural Heritage Trust funding.

Mobile Marine Interpretation Facility: Preliminary Feasibility StudyMobile Marine Interpretation Facility: Preliminary Feasibility Study – We researched and scoped the potential project to develop a Mobile Marine Interpretation Facility for Victoria’s west coast and consulted stakeholders in order to inform decisions as to whether the concept should be pursued. Produced in collaboration with HB Advertising for the Western Coastal Board and Parks Victoria.

In addition we project-managed and made major contributions to:

Parks Victoria's Junior Ranger ProgramThe development of Parks Victoria’s Junior Ranger Program, which involved the creation of a major (and 5 minor) characters, a website, operational guidelines for a children’s club, fee structures, interpretive material, a newsletter, stories over an 18-month period. (Character development and interpretive materials were developed by Airbag and Magnum Opus, and Loggo respectively).

Western Coastal Board’s Priorities for Victoria’s West CoastThe developmental stages of the Western Coastal Board’s Priorities for Victoria’s West Coast: Planning and Natural Resource Management.

We have also assisted a variety of organisations in working with their stakeholders to develop responses to draft strategies such as the 2007 draft Victorian Coastal Strategy, the Land and Biodiversity at a Time of Climate Change Discussion Paper, the River Red Gum Forests Investigation, and the draft Access Guidelines for the West Coast.
